Michael has been working with resource companies and communities since he joined Nishnawbe Aski Development Fund in 2000, after completing his business and honours degree in political science, where he focused on Aboriginal & treaty rights and natural resource development. He held the positions of Partnership Development Advisor and Resource Sectoral Specialist until 2007.
Michael formed his own consultancy, Fox High Impact Consulting, that specializes in partnership development, resource development participation, capacity building and business ventures with First Nations. He has designed engagement programs, regulatory education programs, and landuse planning initiatives.
He was also hired by First Nations for two years to negotiate with the Ring of Fire companies on exploration agreements, joint ventures, and impact & benefits agreements in northern Ontario.
Michael is very active with PDAC’s research initiatives through the Aboriginal Affairs, CSR, and Lands & Regulations Committees. Through PDAC affiliations, he has been advising many companies with their Aboriginal engagement activities and Aboriginal relations programs.
He is currently the Northeastern Ontario Engagement Lead for the Energy East Project / TransCanada.
